Under normal driving the IOLM typically triggers between 7,500 and 10,000 miles. Track days, sustained high-RPM driving or frequent short trips bring that interval down, and the owner's manual's Track Use chapter covers shortened oil intervals and a timing-chain wear indicator for cars driven hard. Regardless of the IOLM reading, Ford states to never exceed 10,000 miles or 1 year between oil changes. Good to know: both the 2.3L EcoBoost and the 5.0L V8 use SAE 5W-30 full synthetic, but capacities, filters and spark plugs differ, so confirm your engine before service.

Time-Based Service
Brake fluid: Replace every 3 years regardless of mileage, on every Mustang from EcoBoost to Dark Horse. Ford specifies Motorcraft DOT 4 LV brake fluid (WSS-M6C65-A2), and the flush requires special equipment available at the Mahon Ford service center. Engine coolant: Motorcraft Yellow prediluted coolant is first replaced at 200,000 miles or 10 years, then every 100,000 miles or 5 years.
Engine-Specific Maintenance Details
The 2025 Mustang is available with two engines across its regular-production trims: the 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 and the 5.0L Coyote V8 shared by the GT and Dark Horse. The overall schedule is the same for both, but oil capacity, filters and spark plugs differ, and your technician needs to know which one is under the hood. The allocation-only Mustang GTD's supercharged 5.2L V8 follows its own owner's manual and is not covered here.

Performance & Track Day Maintenance
Mustang owners who take part in track days, autocross or spirited mountain driving should expect shorter service intervals. Sustained high-RPM driving generates heat that accelerates oil breakdown and brake pad and rotor wear, and the IOLM will call for oil changes sooner. Ford's owner's manual dedicates a Track Use chapter to these cars, including shortened oil-change guidance and a timing-chain wear indicator that can call for chain replacement after extensive track or high-RPM use. Spark plugs move to the 60,000-mile severe interval, brake pads should be inspected before and after every event, and rear axle fluid must be changed after any axle over-temperature warning. GT Performance Package and Dark Horse Brembo brakes deserve a pad and rotor check after every hard session.
Severe & Special Operating Conditions
Ford defines "severe operating conditions" as driving that places increased stress on vehicle components. If any of the following apply to your regular driving habits, several maintenance intervals are shortened:
