Ford Ranger Scheduled Maintenance Overview
The 2025 Ford Ranger is a mid-size truck built for both daily work and weekend adventure, and keeping it on schedule protects your investment whether you're hauling supplies around Brevard or tackling trails in the Pisgah National Forest. Ford's maintenance plan relies on the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor (IOLM), an algorithm-based system that tracks engine RPM, load, temperature, and trip length to determine exactly when your Ranger needs service, so there is no guesswork required.
Under normal driving the IOLM allows up to 10,000 miles or one year between oil changes; off-road use, heavy towing, frequent short trips, or mountain driving will bring that interval down. All three engines, the 2.3L EcoBoost I-4, the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 and the Raptor's 3.0L EcoBoost V6, use SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil (Ford spec WSS-M2C961-A1), and Ford states to never exceed 10,000 miles or 1 year between oil changes regardless of the IOLM reading.

Time-Based Service
Brake fluid: Replace every 3 years regardless of mileage; Ford publishes no shorter severe-service interval for the Ranger. A complete fluid exchange requires special equipment available at the Mahon Ford service center.
Engine coolant: Motorcraft Yellow prediluted antifreeze/coolant (VC-13DL-G) is changed at 10 years or 200,000 miles, whichever comes first, then every 5 years or 100,000 miles after that.
Engine-Specific Maintenance Details
The 2025 Ford Ranger is available with three EcoBoost engines. The 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 is standard on XL, XLT and Lariat, the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 is optional on XLT and Lariat, and the Ranger Raptor runs its own 3.0L EcoBoost V6. All three share the same maintenance intervals, SAE 5W-30 oil and Motorcraft SP-594 spark plugs, but oil capacity, oil filter, engine air filter and spark plug count differ: 5.6 quarts and a cartridge-style FL-2127 filter on the 2.3L, 6.0 quarts and an FL-2062-A on the 2.7L, and 7.0 quarts, an FL-2062-A and a Raptor-specific FA-2058 air filter on the 3.0L, with four plugs on the four-cylinder and six on each V6. Your technician needs to know which engine is under the hood.

Ranger Raptor: Additional Considerations
The 3.0L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 in the Ranger Raptor holds 7.0 quarts of oil, uses its own FA-2058 engine air filter and six SP-594 spark plugs, and Ford recommends premium fuel. If you regularly take your Raptor on trails or unimproved roads, follow the severe-condition schedule: front axle and transfer case fluid every 30,000 miles and spark plugs at 60,000 miles, plus a check of the skid plates and steering components and the FOX Live Valve shocks for leaks or damage after trail use. Dust, water crossings, and rock impacts can accelerate wear on drivetrain seals and suspension bushings, and catching issues early keeps your Raptor trail-ready and avoids costly repairs.
Severe & Special Operating Conditions
Ford defines "severe operating conditions" as driving that places increased stress on vehicle components. The Ranger's off-road capability means many owners will fall into this category. If any of the following apply to your regular driving habits, several maintenance intervals are shortened:
