Ford Escape Scheduled Maintenance Overview
Keeping your 2026 Ford Escape on schedule protects your investment and ensures reliable performance whether you drive the turbocharged 1.5L or 2.0L EcoBoost, the fuel-sipping Hybrid or the electrified Plug-In Hybrid. 2026 is the final Escape model year, but the service schedule is unchanged and Mahon Ford will keep supporting it with genuine Motorcraft parts. Ford's maintenance plan relies on the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor (IOLM), an algorithm-based system that tracks engine RPM, load, temperature and trip length to determine exactly when your Escape needs service, so there is no guesswork.
Under normal driving the IOLM typically calls for an oil change every 7,500 to 10,000 miles; severe use shortens that to 5,000 to 7,500 miles and extreme use to 3,000 to 5,000 miles. The Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid may run longer between changes because the gas engine runs less often, but regardless of the IOLM reading Ford states to never exceed 10,000 miles or 1 year between oil changes. Even if your PHEV runs mostly on electric power, the oil still degrades over time.

Time-Based Service
Brake fluid: Replace every 3 years regardless of mileage, on gas, Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid models alike. Ford specifies Motorcraft DOT 4 LV brake fluid (WSS-M6C65-A2), and the flush requires special equipment available at the Mahon Ford service center. Engine coolant: Motorcraft Yellow prediluted coolant is first replaced at 200,000 miles or 10 years, then every 100,000 miles or 5 years.
Hybrid & Plug-In Hybrid: What Is Different
The Escape Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid follow the same schedule as the gas models: the same oil-change, tire-rotation, filter, spark-plug and brake-fluid intervals, with the eCVT fluid (MERCON ULV) changed at 150,000 miles just like the 8-speed automatic. The high-voltage battery has no scheduled service. What your technician handles differently: the 12V battery is a Motorcraft BAGM-H4, the electric A/C compressor uses POE oil rather than conventional compressor oil, and there is a separate low-temperature cooling circuit for the hybrid electronics (4.7 liters) that is inspected alongside the engine's high-temperature circuit.
Note: The Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid use SAE 0W-20 oil (5.71 quarts with filter) and Motorcraft SP-530-X spark plugs, not the SP-597-X plugs used by the EcoBoost engines.

The 2026 Ford Escape is available with four powertrains: a turbocharged 1.5L EcoBoost I-3, a turbocharged 2.0L EcoBoost I-4, a 2.5L Atkinson-Cycle I-4 Hybrid and a 2.5L Atkinson-Cycle I-4 Plug-In Hybrid. Routes like US-276 through the Pisgah National Forest, the Blue Ridge Parkway and I-26 through the Saluda Grade put extra stress on your Escape's brakes, transmission and cooling system.
