2026 Ford Maverick Maintenance Schedule
Complete Service Intervals for Hybrid & EcoBoost Powertrains

Ford Maverick Scheduled Maintenance Overview
The 2026 Ford Maverick is Ford's most fuel-efficient pickup, offered with a 2.5L full hybrid or a 2.0L EcoBoost, both now available with front- or all-wheel drive. Keeping your Maverick on its maintenance schedule protects that efficiency and ensures reliable performance on every drive through Western North Carolina. Ford's maintenance plan relies on the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor (IOLM), an algorithm-based system that tracks engine RPM, load, temperature and trip length to determine exactly when your compact truck needs service, so there is no guesswork required.
The Maverick is available with two powertrains, and an important distinction is that each uses a different oil specification. The 2.5L Hybrid requires SAE 0W-20 full synthetic (Ford spec WSS-M2C972-A1), while the 2.0L EcoBoost uses SAE 5W-30 full synthetic (Ford spec WSS-M2C971-A1). The hybrid often reaches the full interval because the electric motor shares the workload, reducing engine RPM and heat cycles, and Ford notes that hybrid vehicles may go longer between oil changes than a conventional engine. Heavy mountain driving, frequent short trips or extreme temperatures shorten the interval. Regardless of the IOLM reading, Ford states to never exceed 10,000 miles or 1 year between oil changes.

Complete Maintenance Schedule by Mileage
| Mileage Interval | Services Performed |
|---|---|
| Every 10,000 miles (Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor; max 1 year / 10,000 mi) | Change engine oil and filter (0W-20 hybrid / 5W-30 EcoBoost; reset IOLM); rotate tires; multi-point inspection; inspect automatic transmission fluid level; inspect brake pads, rotors, hoses and parking brake; inspect coolant level/strength and hoses; inspect exhaust and heat shields; inspect rear axle and U-joints (AWD); inspect half-shaft boots; inspect steering linkage, ball joints, suspension, tie-rod ends, driveshaft; inspect tires and tread depth; inspect wheels; inspect cabin and engine air filters, service as required |
| Every 20,000 mi | Replace cabin air filter |
| Every 30,000 mi | Replace engine air filter (FA-1948 hybrid / FA-2064 EcoBoost) |
| Every 100,000 mi | Replace spark plugs; inspect accessory drive belt(s) (then every other oil change until replaced) |
| Every 150,000 mi | Change automatic transmission fluid; replace accessory drive belt(s) if not replaced within the last 100,000 mi |
| At 200,000 mi / 10 years | Change engine coolant (initial at 10 yr / 200,000 mi, then every 5 yr / 100,000 mi) |
| Every 3 years | Change brake fluid (DOT 4 LV, WSS-M6C65-A2) |
Time-Based Service
Brake fluid: Replace every 3 years regardless of mileage, on both the Hybrid and the EcoBoost; Ford publishes no shorter interval for either powertrain. The Maverick specifies Motorcraft DOT 4 LV brake fluid (WSS-M6C65-A2), and the Mahon Ford service center has the equipment to perform a complete fluid exchange.
Engine coolant: Motorcraft Yellow prediluted antifreeze/coolant (VC-13DL-G) is changed at 10 years or 200,000 miles, whichever comes first, then every 5 years or 100,000 miles after that.
Engine-Specific Maintenance Details
The 2026 Ford Maverick is available with two powertrains. The 2.5L Hybrid I-4 produces 191 hp combined and comes with front- or all-wheel drive on XL and XLT and AWD on Lariat. The 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 (250 hp, 277 lb-ft) is standard on the Lobo and Tremor, is the lowest-priced configuration of XL, XLT and Lariat, and for 2026 is offered with front-wheel drive again as well as AWD. The maintenance intervals are the same for both engines, but the parts are not: the Hybrid uses SAE 0W-20 oil, a spin-on FL-910-S filter and SP-530-X plugs, while the EcoBoost uses SAE 5W-30, a cartridge-style FL-2127 filter and SP-597-X plugs. Both engines share the new FP-131 cabin air filter. Always verify your powertrain before purchasing oil or scheduling service.

Maverick Hybrid: Additional Service Items
The Maverick Hybrid follows the same schedule as the EcoBoost, with a few hybrid-specific notes. Its eCVT (PowerSplit) transaxle uses the same Motorcraft MERCON ULV automatic transmission fluid as the EcoBoost's 8-speed, inspected at every oil change and changed at 150,000 miles (30,000 miles under severe service). The cooling system has two circuits, a high-temperature engine loop (9.6 qt) and a low-temperature loop (5.0 qt) for the hybrid electronics and battery, both filled with Motorcraft Yellow coolant and checked at every oil change. The 1.1 kWh lithium-ion hybrid battery has no scheduled service, and regenerative braking reduces pad wear, though brake fluid is still replaced every 3 years just as on the EcoBoost.
Severe & Special Operating Conditions
Ford defines "severe operating conditions" as driving that places increased stress on vehicle components. If any of the following apply to your regular driving habits, several maintenance intervals are shortened:
- Frequent towing or hauling heavy loads
- Mountain driving with steep grades (common in WNC)
- Frequent short trips under 10 miles
- Extended idling or stop-and-go traffic
- Driving in dusty or gravel-road conditions
- Extreme heat or cold temperatures
| Service Item | Normal Interval | Severe Interval |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil & filter | IOLM (up to 10,000 mi / 1 year) | IOLM triggers sooner; never exceed 10,000 mi / 1 year |
| Spark plugs (Hybrid and EcoBoost) | 100,000 mi | 60,000 mi |
| Automatic transmission / eCVT fluid | 150,000 mi | 30,000 mi |
| Brake fluid (DOT 4 LV) | Every 3 years | Every 3 years (no shortened interval) |
| Engine air filter | 30,000 mi | Inspect at every oil change; replace as needed |
| Cabin air filter | 20,000 mi | Inspect at every oil change; replace as needed |
Western NC Mountain Driving
Routes like US-276 through the Pisgah National Forest, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and I-26 through the Saluda Grade put extra stress on your Maverick's brakes, transmission, and cooling system. The Maverick's compact size makes it agile on these mountain roads, but it is still subject to increased brake wear and transmission stress on steep grades. If you regularly drive these routes, especially while hauling gear or towing, consider following the severe-condition schedule, which moves the transmission fluid change up to 30,000 miles and spark plugs to 60,000 miles, even if your other driving is mostly highway miles.
