Ford F-150 Scheduled Maintenance Overview

Keeping your 2027 Ford F-150 on schedule protects your investment and ensures reliable performance on every drive through Western North Carolina. Ford's maintenance plan relies on the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor (IOLM), an algorithm-based system that tracks engine RPM, load, temperature, and trip length to determine exactly when your truck needs service, so there is no guesswork required.

Follow the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor rather than a fixed oil-change mileage. The scheduled-maintenance chart caps service at 10,000 miles or one year; towing, idling, short trips, dust and extreme temperatures can bring the message sooner. Ford recommends responding within two weeks or 500 miles when the monitor calls for oil service. Tell your advisor about generator use, off-road travel and the loads you carry through Western North Carolina.

Complete Maintenance Schedule by Mileage

Mileage IntervalServices Performed
At oil-life message; no later than 10,000 mi / 1 yearChange engine oil and filter and reset oil-life monitor; rotate tires and measure tread; inspect brakes, coolant system and hoses, exhaust, halfshaft boots, steering, suspension, driveshaft and wheels; inspect engine and cabin air filters; check transmission fluid level on dipstick-equipped vehicles; inspect front axle on 4WD; multi-point inspection recommended.
Every 20,000 miReplace cabin air filter (Motorcraft FP-92).
Every 30,000 miReplace engine air filter (FA-1883; FA-1922 for 5.2L Raptor R).
Every 100,000 miReplace spark plugs; inspect accessory drive belt(s), then every other oil change until replaced.
Every 150,000 miChange automatic transmission fluid and filter; replace accessory drive belt(s). The table also lists rear axle fluid and, on 4WD, front axle and transfer case fluid; see the manual’s axle/transfer-case exceptions and have the dealer confirm the applicable work.
Initially 200,000 mi / 10 years; then 100,000 mi / 5 yearsChange engine coolant; use the mileage or time limit reached first.
Every 3 yearsChange brake fluid; servicing requires dealer equipment.

Time-Based Service

Brake fluid: replace every three years regardless of mileage. Engine coolant: initially at ten years or 200,000 miles, then five years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Follow an earlier oil-life message and the mileage and operating-condition items elsewhere on this page.

  • Service timing depends on both elapsed time and mileage
  • Keep service records and identify the engine, drivetrain and work the truck performs
  • F-150’s later mileage items are to be performed within 3,000 miles of the last oil/filter change without exceeding their designated interval

Engine-Specific Maintenance Details

The 2027 F-150 manual covers the 3.0L EcoBoost V6, 3.5L EcoBoost V6, 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid, 5.0L V8, 3.5L High-Output EcoBoost Raptor and 5.2L supercharged Raptor R. Oil capacity and service parts depend on the engine. The 3.0L, both 3.5L versions and PowerBoost take 6.0 quarts with the filter; the 5.0L takes 7.75 quarts. These engines use SAE 5W-30 meeting WSS-M2C971-A1. The Raptor R uses 11.5 quarts of SAE 5W-50 meeting WSS-M2C931-E1. The shorter plug interval in the schedule requires both pickup-bed power-outlet equipment and severe service; it is not a universal engine interval.

PowerBoost and Pickup-Bed Power Outlet Service

PowerBoost uses 6.0 quarts of SAE 5W-30 oil to WSS-M2C971-A1, an FL-500-S oil filter, FA-1883 engine air filter and SP-596 spark plugs. The manual also includes a conditional schedule for vehicles with a pickup-bed power outlet used in severe service. Equipment and use must both match before applying it; ask Mahon Ford to check your truck’s configuration and work pattern.

  • Spark plugs: 100,000 miles normally; 60,000 miles with pickup-bed power outlet AND severe service
  • Accessory belts: inspect at 60,000 miles and replace at 100,000 miles under that same condition; normal inspection is at 100,000 and replacement at 150,000 miles
  • Coolant: follow the specified service for the engine and hybrid cooling circuits; initial scheduled coolant replacement is 10 years or 200,000 miles, then five years or 100,000 miles
  • Brake fluid: replace every three years; hybrid operation does not remove that time-based requirement

Severe & Special Operating Conditions

Ford defines "severe operating conditions" as driving that places increased stress on vehicle components. If any of the following apply to your regular driving habits, the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor shortens your oil-change interval, and a few other items move up:

  • Frequent towing or hauling heavy loads
  • Mountain driving with steep grades (common in WNC)
  • Frequent short trips under 5 to 10 miles
  • Extended idling, including running Pro Power Onboard as a generator
  • Driving in dusty or gravel-road conditions
  • Extreme heat or cold temperatures

Western NC Mountain Driving

Routes like US-276 through the Pisgah National Forest, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and I-26 through the Saluda Grade put extra stress on your F-150's brakes, transmission, and cooling system. Ford handles most of that through the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor, which shortens the oil-change interval when it sees heavy loads and high temperatures, so follow the message when it appears rather than waiting for 10,000 miles. If you tow regularly on these grades, ask us to pay extra attention to brake pad and rotor condition and coolant strength at every oil change, and Raptor owners who run off-road should plan on transfer case and front axle fluid every 30,000 miles.
