2027 Ford Super Duty Maintenance Schedule
Service intervals for F-250, F-350 and F-450 pickups | 7.3L Gas V8 and 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke Diesel

Scheduled Maintenance Overview
The 2027 Ford Super Duty lineup, including the F-250, F-350 and F-450, shares a common maintenance schedule across all three models. Whether you drive a Super Duty for daily hauling, commercial work or weekend towing, staying on top of Ford's recommended service intervals is essential to protect your investment and maintain peak performance.
All 2027 Super Duty trucks are equipped with Ford's Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor (IOLM), which tracks engine operating conditions such as temperature, load, RPM and idle time to calculate the right oil change interval and displays a message on the instrument cluster when service is due. Ford also sets a hard ceiling: never go more than one year or 10,000 miles between oil changes on the gas engines, or one year or 15,000 miles on the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel, even if the monitor has not called for service. Heavy towing, extended idling and short trips all shorten the interval the monitor allows.
The 2027 pickup lineup uses the 7.3L gas V8 on F-250 and F-350, with the 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke diesel available; F-450 pickups are diesel-powered. The engines have different oil quantities, filters and additional service items. The gas engine takes 9.0 quarts including the filter, while the diesel takes 15.0 quarts. The manual also covers chassis-cab equipment and commercial applications, so those conditional items are identified separately rather than applied to every pickup.
Oil & Filter
Follow IOLM: gas max 10,000 mi / 1 year; diesel max 15,000 mi / 1 year. Gas: 9.0 qt, SAE 5W-30 WSS-M2C971-A1, FL-820-S. Diesel: 15.0 qt, SAE 10W-30 WSS-M2C171-F1, FL-2124-S.
Tire Rotation
Rotate and inspect tires at every oil change. On dual-rear-wheel trucks Ford rotates the front tires only unless unusual wear shows up, so mention any uneven wear to your advisor.
Cabin Air Filter
Replace the Motorcraft FP-92 cabin air filter every 20,000 miles to keep airflow and HVAC performance up in your Super Duty cab.
Spark Plugs
Gas engines: Motorcraft SP-589 plugs (x8) at 100,000 miles, or 60,000 miles under severe service. The Power Stroke diesel has no spark plugs, and Ford publishes no glow-plug replacement interval.
Complete Maintenance Schedule by Mileage
Use the schedule below with the engine and equipment named in each row. Normal mileage items are supplemented by diesel, severe-use and chassis-cab requirements; they are not interchangeable. In particular, the EVAP external-filter rows apply only to gas chassis cabs equipped with the 38.5-gallon aft-axle tank. Mahon Ford can check your VIN, axle and operating pattern before carrying out conditional work.

Time-Based Service
Brake fluid: replace every three years regardless of mileage. Engine coolant: initially at ten years or 200,000 miles, then five years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Follow an earlier oil-life message and the mileage and operating-condition items elsewhere on this page.
- Service timing depends on both elapsed time and mileage
- Keep service records and identify the engine, drivetrain and work the truck performs
- Diesel DEF is refilled at oil service; inspect and drain the water separator when needed or indicated
Engine-Specific Maintenance Details
Use the engine-specific table to match the oil, capacity and Motorcraft service parts to your truck. The 7.3L gas engine uses 9.0 quarts with the filter, SAE 5W-30 meeting WSS-M2C971-A1 and the FL-820-S oil filter. The 6.7L High-Output diesel uses 15.0 quarts with the filter and oil meeting WSS-M2C171-F1, with viscosity selected for temperature, fuel and duty. Ford lists two transmission-filter applications for the gas engine, so the installed transmission must be checked.

6.7L Power Stroke: Diesel-Specific Service
Diesel maintenance includes fuel filtration, DEF and a separate air-inlet foam filter in addition to the shared inspections. The 2027 manual lists the FD-4647 fuel-filter kit, FA-2031 engine air filter, FA-1952 foam pre-filter and FL-2124-S oil filter. Match the interval to normal or severe use rather than replacing every diesel filter at the same mileage.
- Fuel filters: replace both engine-mounted and frame-mounted filters every 30,000 miles normally or 15,000 miles in severe service
- Air filtration: engine air filter at 30,000 miles; foam pre-filter at 50,000 miles normally or 30,000 miles in severe service; reset the air-filter information monitor after engine-filter replacement
- Accessory belt: inspect at 90,000 miles, then every 15,000 miles if not replaced; replace at 100,000 miles
- DEF and water separator: refill DEF at oil service; drain the separator when needed or indicated
- Oil: 15.0 quarts including the filter; use WSS-M2C171-F1 and the viscosity specified for your temperature, biodiesel blend and duty
- Driveline: diesel severe-service items include 50,000-mile transfer-case service on 4WD and Dana rear-axle fluid service on the specified applications
- Diesel oil viscosity: Ford lists SAE 5W-40 full synthetic for severe duty, SAE 5W-40 or 15W-40 for B20 biodiesel, and SAE 0W-40 for specified extreme cold; each must meet WSS-M2C171-F1
Severe & Special Operating Conditions
Ford defines "severe" or "special" operating conditions as any driving pattern that places increased stress on the engine, transmission and drivetrain. If your Super Duty regularly operates under any of the following conditions, you should follow the severe maintenance schedule with shorter service intervals:
- Towing a trailer or carrying heavy payloads (including fifth-wheel and gooseneck loads)
- Driving on steep, mountainous terrain or long grades (common in Western NC)
- Frequent short trips, especially in cold weather
- Extended idling or low-speed driving (job site work, construction, farming)
- Driving on unpaved, dusty, muddy or gravel roads
- Operating in extreme heat or cold
- Commercial or fleet use with high daily mileage, or DRW trucks running at or near GVWR
- Operating with a snow plow, dump body or other upfit equipment

Western NC Mountain Driving Advisory
The Brevard and Asheville area presents unique challenges for Super Duty trucks. Routes such as US-276 through Pisgah National Forest, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the I-26 Saluda Grade feature sustained steep grades that place extraordinary demands on engines, transmissions and braking systems. If you regularly tow with your Super Duty on these mountain roads, Mahon Ford strongly recommends following the severe maintenance schedule for spark plugs, fuel filters, axle and transfer case fluids, and keeping to the 3-year brake fluid change without exception.
Power Stroke diesel owners should take advantage of the engine-exhaust braking system on long descents to reduce wear on brake pads and rotors. The exhaust brake uses back-pressure from the turbocharger to slow the vehicle without relying solely on the service brakes, a significant advantage when towing heavy loads down mountain grades. Consult your owner's manual for proper exhaust brake operation.

Monthly & Semi-Annual Owner Checks
Between scheduled dealer service visits, Ford recommends these owner-performed inspections to catch potential issues early and keep your Super Duty in top condition:
Monthly
Engine oil level, tire pressure & spare, all lights & signals, washer fluid level, DEF level (diesel)
Every 6 Months
Battery terminals, coolant level, wiper blades (Motorcraft WW-2998), door seals, parking brake
Annually
Safety warning lamps, seatbelt function, horn operation, exhaust check
Before Winter
Coolant strength, battery test, tire tread depth, wiper blades, heater operation, block heater test (diesel)
