2.5L Atkinson-Cycle I-4 (Hybrid)

Recommended Interval: 10,000 miles
Hybrid powertrain uses 0W-20 — not 5W-30. The Atkinson-cycle engine runs differently than a conventional engine, and the thinner oil weight is critical for efficiency and protection.
2.5L Atkinson-Cycle I-4 (PHEV)
Oil Type: SAE 0W-20 Full Synthetic
Capacity: 4.8 quarts
Recommended Interval: 10,000 miles
Same engine as the standard hybrid. Even though the PHEV runs on electric power frequently, it still needs regular oil changes when the gas engine cycles on.

- Critical difference: EcoBoost uses 5W-30, Hybrid and PHEV use 0W-20 — using the wrong weight can damage your engine
- Hybrid and PHEV models often go the full 10,000 miles between changes since the gas engine runs less frequently
- Even if your PHEV is driven primarily on electric power, the oil still degrades over time — don't exceed 12 months between changes regardless of mileage
- The 1.5L three-cylinder has one of the lowest oil capacities in the Ford lineup at just 4.3 quarts
