Engine-Specific Oil Details
2.7L EcoBoost V6
Oil Type: SAE 5W-30 Full Synthetic
Capacity: 6.0 quarts
Recommended Interval: 7,500 - 10,000 miles
Twin-turbo engine requires full synthetic for turbo bearing protection. Ford recommends Motorcraft full synthetic for optimal EcoBoost performance.
3.5L EcoBoost V6
Oil Type: SAE 5W-30 Full Synthetic
Capacity: 6.0 quarts
Recommended Interval: 7,500 - 10,000 miles
High-output twin-turbo V6 found in Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. Also powers the 3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid. Full synthetic is mandatory.
5.0L Coyote V8
Oil Type: SAE 5W-20 Full Synthetic
Capacity: 8.8 quarts
Recommended Interval: 7,500 - 10,000 miles
The Coyote V8 uses 5W-20 — not 5W-30. Higher oil capacity means slightly more per oil change. Uses a different filter than EcoBoost models.

Oil Change Tips for Your F-150
- The Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor (IOLM) tracks driving conditions and alerts you when service is needed — follow it rather than fixed mileage alone
- F-150s used for towing or heavy hauling may need more frequent changes, especially with the 3.5L EcoBoost under sustained load
- Always use the correct weight — the 5.0L V8 takes 5W-20, while EcoBoost engines take 5W-30
- PowerBoost Hybrid models use the same oil specs as the standard 3.5L EcoBoost
